In 1646, Jeremiah Boroughs wrote,
We all want to be happy, but we do not find it easy. The trouble is that we want to have everything this world offers, in the belief that this will make us happy. The apostle Paul had a quite different attitude. He wrote, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need and I know what it us to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.” Philippians 4:11
